Youth4Change Handbook
From Participation to Impact
A key pillar of Youth4Change is its structured dialogue approach, which creates meaningful encounters between young people and decision-makers. Through:
- Local youth assemblies
- Hackathons and co-creation labs
- Transnational forums and exchanges
participants explore social and political challenges, develop concrete solutions, and formulate policy recommendations grounded in their lived experiences. These processes ensure that youth participation goes beyond consultation and leads to real influence.
Learning by Doing
Youth4Change combines civic education with creativity and innovation. Through interactive workshops, storytelling, digital tools, and creative media, participants strengthen essential competences such as:
- Critical thinking and media literacy
- Communication and leadership skills
- Teamwork and problem-solving
- Civic awareness and democratic engagement
By learning through practice, young people gain the confidence to speak up and discuss topics that concern them, collaborate across differences, and advocate for positive change in their communities.
Building Inclusive and Resilient Democracies
Youth4Change places inclusion, gender equality, and equal opportunities at the heart of all activities. By amplifying diverse voices and removing barriers to participation, the project contributes to:

Youth4Change does not just teach democracy – it puts democracy into practice. Participants leave the project empowered, connected, and ready to shape their cities, their countries, and Europe for the better.
A European Network for Change
The project brings together young people, youth organizations, civil society actors, and local authorities from six European countries – Belgium, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, Netherlands, and Spain – fostering cross-border dialogue and mutual learning. This European exchange strengthens solidarity, promotes shared values, and encourages young people to see themselves as active European citizens.
